The Matrix CMS simplifies the print production process, allowing users to easily create pages. The CMS contains a powerful page mock-up tool which allows buyers or product managers to brief the page visually. This saves designers time by providing them with a digital brief from which to work from.
Designers simply click a button to get the correct templated or mocked-up page design, complete with the correct text, styled as chosen along with all images and logos placed on the page. This faster page creation frees designers to create more compelling pages, whilst removing mistakes from text entry and image choice.
This automation can take place using either QuarkXPress or InDesign depending on your designers preference. In fact different pages within a publication can use different DTP applications, completely on the whim of the designer.
Every time a page is mocked-up, created or modified the system takes a preview of the page. This preview is used to display a page plan overview of the catalogue, allowing repagination to be done visually, and providing a valuable management overview for the production status of the catalogue.
As pages pass through specified production stages, the system can automatically create PDFs for digital proofing. The PDFs are held in the CMS for easy viewing and making annotations and comments seamless. Doing this removes the need for costly paper proofs and all associated delays and leg-work.
Once data is exported to the page it holds an invisible link back to the database. This means that at the click of a button, text amends and price updates can be made instantly. It also allows quick and easy currency and language changes so you can reach overseas markets with the minimum of fuss.
The CMS also offers significant time saving with the facility to automatically create an index of your catalogue pages. For example, these can be part number, alpha-numeric, vendor or cross-reference indexes.
Finally once the printed publication has been completed, the page previews which have helped speed the production process, are now available to the rest of the business for online catalogues, call-centre staff and page space analysis.
