Based just up the road from Matrix Software in Altrincham, Cotton Traders are one of the best known clothing companies in the country. Founded in 1987 by former England rugby captains Fran Cotton and Steve Smith, they began supplying quality rugby shirts via mail order using adverts in the Sunday papers. Now 21 years on they have a turnover in excess of £50 million a year, with over 700 employees across the UK. As well as selling their famous rugby shirts their product range now covers quality leisurewear and casual clothes for both men and women, household textiles and footwear, in fact they're the UK's sixth biggest footwear retailer.
Currently all catalogues are created manually with no automation or computer system workflow. Using the Matrix CMS, Cotton Traders hope to significantly reduce the time taken to create printed catalogues and web-ready product data. Along with all the standard features of product information, digital asset managment, page automation and workflow management, the system will also link remote copywriters, printers and repro houses via a browser interface.
"We're absolutely delighted to acquire Cotton Traders as a client" says Matrix Managing Director, Nick Speakman. "Fashion is where we started creating CMS systems, it's our biggest market sector, one we understand instinctively and we're relishing the opportunity to bring massive benefits to their business"
