FC United of Manchester are a semi-professional football club, formed and owned by disgruntled Manchester United fans following the controversial take over of their club by Malcolm Glazer. They aim to bring affordable football back to Mancunian United fans and introduce younger fans to the joys of standing on a football terrace, singing songs and get away from the sterile commercialism of Premiership football.
Matrix Software have been sponsors of FC United since their inception in 2005, and recently paid for the publication of 111 donated poems by acclaimed Manchester poet and author Mike Duff. With Matrix paying for the printing of the book it means that all proceeds from the book can go directly into the FC United Development Fund, which hopes to raise enough cash in the next few years to enable FC to leave their temporary home at Bury's Gigg Lane and build a ground of their own in Manchester.
The book is entitled "Of a Mancunian" and is available from the Development Fund stall on home match days.
