Despite the strength and success of the company the recent credit crunch has put strains on even the most ascendant businesses and at the start of 2009 all divisions of the company were under strict instructions to look for ways to trim costs.

Insight had been a customer of Stibo for over 18 years and were one of their most prestigious clients, but one obvious place for Insight to save money was to switch from using the Stibo STEP system to a brand new Matrix CMS. Despite the upheaval of switching systems, training staff and installing new software the switch has generated massive cost and time savings after just one catalogue.

Possibly the most recognisable technology catalogue in the UK, the Insight main catalogue is regarded amongst IT professionals as the best source for IT products. The 400+ page catalogue offers information and pricing on over 300 top-selling IT products on a bi-monthly basis. As well as the main bi-monthly catalogue 8 speciality catalogues are produced for Advisor, Education, Infrastructure, Mobility, NHS, Software, Technology and Seasonal Deals.

Working with InDesign, the pages are template driven and products are assigned a style based on this template such as "hero", "grid" or "table". This means that page creation is very quick, because once a selection of products is added to a page and style chosen the pages are created perfectly and instantly. This allows the designers more time to spend on the aesthetics of the catalogue, instead of looking for assets and updating text and still maintains a pleasing structural feel to the pages.
