Safeway

Safeway

Until their recent sale to Morrisons the Matrix PoS System was used by Safeway for over 10 years to generate all their in-store point of sale material for their 479 stores. It created over 400,000 pieces of artwork per year based on over 140 separate template designs, with everything from small shelf-edge tickets through to massive window posters.

During those 10 years it never had a single failure and not a single ticket was missed. "The system was totally reliable", says former Studio Manager, Rob Cole, "If one of the Mac clients crashed, the system detected the failure and re-directed jobs to the remaining machines, it was amazing!" Using a PC server with 8 Mac client machines to automatically create point of sale artwork, it was capable of delivering automatically designed artwork to all stores in under 1 hour.

Co-Op

The Co-operative Group operates over 1,800 food stores across the UK and in partnership with St Ives, the UK's leading independent printer, Matrix have been servicing the PoS needs of the Co-Op for nearly 10 years.

The system creates 30 million printed tickets per year, based on 42,000 originals, dealing with all the Co-Op's regional and store specific prices. The system has been a resounding success in both dependability and time saving. "It's the most reliable, solid bit of software I've used in the past 9 years" says St Ives Direct Studio Manager, Mark Backhouse. "It saves me hundreds of man days per year in creating PoS artwork".

The system creates all this vast volume of artwork on just three Apple Macintosh G5s, with one acting as a server.
